    Sensor skin

The APAS assistant is the first assistance system certified for interaction with human operators without the need for a safety fence. Its robot arm is equipped with a highly sensitive sensor skin that can sense when the operator approaches. Whenever an employee gets too close, the APAS assistant stops immediately – before there is any contact between operator and machine – and resumes its work as soon as the employee is no longer in its immediate vicinity.

    Camera system

The 3D image processing system and integrated lighting allow the APAS to identify objects and determine their relative spatial position. Further, the assistant’s ability to precisely grasp and position components simplifies parts feeding.

    Gripper

Thanks to its sensitive three-finger gripper, it can flexibly and reliably grasp and hold components and products. In the event of collision, the gripper fingers automatically retract, helping to avoid pinching and jamming. The APAS assistant can also be equipped with individual, proprietary grippers while adhering to all relevant safety standards.

    Operating surface

Employing a mobile touchpad, the APAS assistant can be intuitively operated without special expertise or programming skills.

    Networking

Standardized interfaces allow our assistance systems to communicate with one another, and with external units and systems.

  • Range of applications

    Handling

Thanks to its high precision, the APAS assistant allows a range of tasks – e.g. palletizing, sorting, loading and unloading production machinery – to be automated. Equipped with an appropriate sensor system, the production assistant delivers safe and reliable gripping, making it the ideal solution in connection with tasks poorly suited to human operators, e.g. handling potentially dangerous or extremely hot components.

    Tooling

With its servo-controlled, universal three-finger gripper, the APAS assistant is compatible with and can employ a range of further tools, vastly expanding its range of applications. Accordingly, the APAS assistant can also take over highly specific tasks, e.g. final inspection work on control buttons or batteries.

    Identification

The APAS assistant is equipped with a 3D image processing system and a camera head unit. As such, the production assistant is capable of independently analyzing its environment, recognizing the parts it needs to grip, and differentiating between different parts. Further, its image recognition system allows it to precisely grasp and position parts, greatly simplifying parts feeding.

    Documentation

In many of today’s production processes, extensive documentation is an important element. Thanks to its integrated cameras, the APAS assistant can record, analyze, sort and export the necessary image data. The operator simply needs to forward the data to the customer.

  • Features

    Distance monitoring

Optimal performance, optimal safety: with the optional, platform-independent distance monitoring system, the APAS assistant can observe its application-specific immediate vicinity and work at maximum speed. Once it senses an employee enter its immediate vicinity, it automatically slows to a safer speed.
